I LOVE Valentines Day!

And 2012 didn't disappoint! :)

Well, it never does with my "Sweetness."

It's chocolates & roses every year, no fail....

It's actually "Valentine Month" because we celebrate our wedding anniversary

on the 18th!

just in topping alone...

This happens to also be our favorite Christmas tree ranch...

Spent some time biking this weekend in the 'hood"....

flying past the mountains, country fences & some corn.....

but I have to say, I'll miss the summer. :)

January Joys

"Birthday Week!"

I know, I know.....it's cold, dreary & blustery....isn't it wonderful? :)

Sigh...pink, floral wrapping paper....the smell of a new bottle of perfume...roses..on a cake...yes, it's my "Birthday Week!"

"Birthday Week?" you say? Of course!

Why only one day? On a month so drear? When you can fill your days with the anticipation of good things to come all month long!

Take for instance, my early birthday gift... a new sewing machine!

I've never had a new sewing machine!

I was quite happy toodling along on my ugly, albeit sturdy & faithful brown Beaumark.

I have however, quite happily converted over to the new!

White definitely looks better in my buttercream, cake-style kitchen. :)

....And yes, that's a brand new quilt you see in the making.... (Roses for January, you know!) ;)

I realize that it isn't "Birthday Month" for everyone...but look for the January joys that are tucked away, nice & warm in your January Home.... dig out that stitchery that's been waiting for you to come back to it for 8 or so months...that tatting or needlepunch that the cat got ahold of....& that quilt that's "almost" done...& don't forget to pick up a white, buttercream birthday cake with white frosting, adorned with yellow & pink roses!

It goes nice with tea!

Well...Christmas is over....I'm ready to move on to other things....lots of Spring-like things.

I'm in the midst of surrounding myself with flowery pink items that remind me of the warmth that is right around the corner.....HA! So close, yet so far away! Didn't Winter just begin? :)

We can dream, can't we? :)

'Tis the season to bring out the "Sense & Sensibility", "Pride & Prejudice" & what the heck...bring out "Miss Potter". A bunny or two in winter never killed anyone. :)

Make it happen. Spring is in the air...or in your mind if you so choose! :)

Well, I'm "wrapping up" with the shopping and all the wrapping....

It's nice to have a bit of time to putz around and finish Christmassy odds & ends that have been swirling around in my head....

although...not sure if it's a good idea to show these nifty, super-long candy cane style ticking stockings....

It's a good way to get hooked into extra presents!

Take time to enjoy the season...have a handy-dandy project close-by and take the time to work on it a bit a time with something warm to drink. :)

Christmassy Mulled Cider

4 cups apple juice

1 large cinnamon stick..or 2 small

4 whole cloves

a scraping of nutmeg

one squeeze of orange juice

Christmas Dust

Well, I've been going strong since November 1st, decorating, fussing, mussing and getting all those pretty little knickknacks out! Santa's keeping an eye on US this year...feels similar to an audit, I would imagine.

Holly Hobbie is dressed in her holiday garb, out and about shopping in town....

Angels from the "realms of glory" are singing the praises of the season....

And visions of sugarplums are dancing in my head!

My question to you is, after all the time we spent glitzing, fluffing, shifting, stuffing and shaking....who invited the dust?? ;)
